I fell into the wholesale rep business accidentally. While on the road promoting my own baby brand, I decided to help out a couple of friends with promotion of their own lines. I was surprisingly well received by the retailers, many of whom hadn’t seen a rep in their store for some time! By seeing the store, current merchandise, and the store’s clientele in person, we are able to make better recommendations for our buyers (often recommending products that we don’t even represent if we feel it is a good fit for the boutique!).
I pull from my own experiences with baby and children’s products as I have two children of my own (ages 5 and 8) and several friends who often become my own personal marketing focus group!
While staying “on the road” is an important part of the business, it is difficult to represent so many lines in this manner. Elisabeth Everly & Co. needed a home where retailers could see the full product lines…and a place where they wouldn’t be interrupted with the daily tasks of running a small business. We found that home at AmericasMart Atlanta in July 2015.
We still strive to make visits to boutiques, but buyers always know they can find us at the Mart for all the major shows – and in between shows by appointment!
